Workman has launched jackets and pants that can be worn outdoors as part of a new line of Recovery Wear, expanding beyond indoor clothing. With new products such as the top-of-the-line Cosmos, the company is stepping up efforts to promote recovery from fatigue around the clock.
Workman has launched new clothing that can be worn outdoors, aiming to expand the Recovery Wear market. As the first release, the “Mediheal Cosmos” is priced at ¥5,800 for a top-and-bottom set, ¥2,900 for a long-sleeved crew-neck top and ¥2,900 for long pants, representing a substantial reduction from previous prices. The fabric is said to contain several hundred million microcapsules that absorb heat in hot conditions and release heat in cold conditions.
The outdoor wear comes in two configurations: the “Recovery Jacket” (¥4,990) with “Cargo Pants” (¥3,990), and the “Recovery Suit Jacket” (¥4,990) with “Slacks” (¥3,990). Both are designed for daytime activities, including work and business settings, with an emphasis on extending the fatigue-recovery benefits of the products into everyday life.
At a press event, the head of development said that cumulative sales of the product range, including Cosmos, had reached 14 million garments in one year. The products have also been registered as general medical devices since last year. Workman said it had strengthened its inventory system by securing domestic storage warehouses and production capacity for 30 million garments.
Examples of companies from other industries entering the market, including Nitori, Shimamura and Takarajimasha, were cited as signs of market expansion, and the potential for demand for Recovery Wear to spread was highlighted. Going forward, the balance between the design appeal and functionality of outdoor wear is expected to be a decisive factor in purchasing decisions.
