Google held Made by Google 2026 in New York on 12 August US time, unveiling its new Pixel products. The announcements were released ahead of the event, where multiple live demos and demonstrations of new features were conducted.
The event began with the release of new products, including the Pixel 11 series, in a pre-announcement format, and featured a presentation hosted by Trevor Noah. The on-site demos used a talk-show format with the host and multiple cameras, while the large amount of information disclosed beforehand was cited as a defining feature.
Among the most notable demos were an introduction to Rambler's voice input feature and a demonstration of its ability to convert ASL into text. The former showcased exchanges mixing English and French, while the latter demonstrated translation of conversations with deaf people, along with an explanation of how data is handled between the on-device model and the server.
The new Magic Capture feature is designed to automatically capture the optimal moment without requiring repeated presses of the shutter button, and automatic photography was demonstrated in multiple situations at the event. The feature was described as offering potential to improve photo quality.
Pixel Tag was introduced as a tracker competing with AirTag, intended to strengthen the Find Hub network and expand the Pixel ecosystem. HiLight was demonstrated with only limited functionality, such as incoming-call notifications, leaving scope for future expansion.
