Ocean raised approximately ¥500 million in its Series A second close. It will strengthen support for merchants transitioning to the revised tax-free system, ahead of its implementation.
Ocean, which operates the refund-based tax-free platform “Ocean Tax Refund,” completed the second close of its Series A round, bringing on KURONEKO Innovation Fund 2 and Shizuoka Capital as investors. The total amount raised in the Series A round is now approximately ¥500 million.
This financing includes the first close announced in September 2026 and was completed less than one year before the launch of the new tax-free system operations. Ocean said it will enhance the value it provides to visitors to Japan and stores through transition support for merchants and the use of its network.
The system is scheduled to take effect in November 2026, and Ocean plans to further strengthen its transition support structure so that merchants nationwide can move smoothly to the new system, including support for checkout operations, refund procedures and multilingual guidance.
Going forward, Ocean will accelerate collaboration with Yamato Holdings and Shizuoka Capital, using its logistics network and relationships with regional financial institutions to support local stores and capture inbound demand.
