Takeshima Aquarium in Gamagori has begun an unusual collaboration with Japan Tissue Engineering, a major regenerative medicine company. The initiative uses planarian amputation experiments and other activities to make regenerative medicine more familiar.
Takeshima Aquarium in Gamagori and Japan Tissue Engineering (J-TEC) have begun an unusual collaboration. The initiative aims to make regenerative medicine more familiar and reduce resistance to treatment options.
On the 10th, the first day of the collaboration, the exhibition “Is That Hook Stuck in You Okay?” opened at Takeshima Aquarium for Family audiences. Visitors learned about regenerative medicine through the aquarium’s exhibits and demonstrations.
The exhibition includes planarian amputation experiments, designed to give visitors a hands-on understanding of the potential of regenerative medicine through the processes of amputation and regeneration. Against the backdrop of Gamagori’s identity as a “city of regenerative medicine,” the initiative is positioned as an effort to highlight the link between medicine and the local community.
