東京応化工業 has completed a new production building for semiconductor photoresists at its Koriyama Plant in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture. The investment was ¥23.0 billion, the building footprint is 4,800 square metres, and operations are scheduled to begin in November.
The company manufactures a wide range of semiconductor photoresists, including advanced materials for EUV and ArF applications. The new building is intended to expand supply capacity and further improve product quality in anticipation of medium- to long-term market growth. Construction began in July 2024, and the company says the building will be one of the world’s largest photoresist production facilities.
The new production building will be developed as a smart factory with increased automation and digitalisation across its production lines. The company has stated that it will pursue high safety and production efficiency and aim to manufacture the world’s highest-quality photoresists.
Under the Group’s medium-term management plan, tok Medium-Term Plan 2027, the company says it will continue considering capital investment to strengthen its supply chain and ensure a stable supply of high-quality products. Expanding its production base in anticipation of future growth in the semiconductor market has been positioned as a key priority.
