In the first half of fiscal 2027, MINISTOP fell into a ¥2.8 billion operating loss. Sales rose 4.8% year on year to ¥51.0 billion, but deteriorating profitability at domestic stores hindered earnings recovery, and the full-year forecast was also revised downward.
MINISTOP's consolidated results for the first half of the fiscal year ending February 2027 showed sales of ¥51.0 billion, up 4.8% year on year, while operating income and loss was a ¥2.8 billion loss. Ordinary loss was ¥2.6 billion, and interim net loss was also ¥3.9 billion. The increase in directly operated stores boosted sales while putting pressure on earnings. The company opened 4 stores and closed 75, leaving 1,722 stores at period-end.
Existing-store daily sales were around ¥465,000, representing progress of 94.2% against the plan at the start of the fiscal year and a 5.2% year-on-year decline. The gross margin fell 1.2 percentage points from the same period a year earlier to 30.2%, while gross operating profit declined by approximately ¥2.0 billion. Personnel expenses increased by approximately ¥1.0 billion due to the increase in directly operated stores, putting downward pressure on standalone operating income and loss.
