Meta Planet announced that it conducted a share buyback on 14 October for a total of approximately ¥19.3 billion. The number of shares acquired was 73,981,400, at an acquisition price of ¥261 per share. The buyback was conducted as part of the ¥60 billion share buyback allocation announced the previous day.
On the same day, the share price temporarily rose to ¥275 during the morning session on Yahoo! Finance before moving to the upper ¥260s. The previous day's closing price was ¥261, and the share price rose 5.36% after the buyback announcement.
The purchase was part of the use of the allocation established on 13 October. On the same day, the company also announced the issuance of euro-yen convertible bonds with stock acquisition rights totaling ¥52 billion. It intends to allocate part of the proceeds to the share buyback to mitigate the short-term impact on share supply and demand. The company had previously established a share buyback allocation of up to ¥75 billion, but had made no purchases under it. It terminated the previous allocation and switched to a new one.
