vivo’s new flagship X500 series has been announced in China, drawing attention for its three-model lineup of the base model, Pro and Pro Max, as well as the unusual reversal in battery capacities. Here is the latest on each model’s capacity and features, along with the domestic release schedule.
On 21 September 2026, vivo’s new flagship X500 series was announced in China, with a three-model lineup and pricing disclosed for the base model, Pro and Pro Max. Battery capacities are 7,500mAh for the base model, 6,510mAh for the Pro and 8,000mAh for the Pro Max, drawing attention to the unusual fact that the Pro has the smallest capacity.
The Pro’s lower capacity may be attributable to its being the smallest device in the series and to internal space constraints. Meanwhile, the Pro Max packs the largest battery into a large-screen body, reflecting a differentiation in design.
All 3 models support fast charging at 90W wired and 40W wireless. The cameras were jointly developed with Zeiss, while the base model uses a Dimensity 9600M chipset and the Pro and Pro Max use the Dimensity 9600 Pro.
The Pro Max is available in a special 16GB+1TB configuration as a satellite communications version, priced at 12,999 yuan. In China, the base model is scheduled for release on the 24th, the Pro on the 29th and the Pro Max on the 24th. Preparation for global versions may be under way, but no formal announcement has been made.
Availability in Japan has not been announced at this time, and the market will need to watch how the global rollout develops.
