According to a Chinese government announcement, full-year humanoid robot production is expected to exceed 100,000 units. Testing is advancing across more than 300 demonstration scenarios, including warehousing, logistics and retail, while work is also proceeding to establish standards and develop key common technologies.
According to the State Council Information Office of China, finished humanoid robot models exceeded 400 in the first half of this year, while production exceeded 40,000 units. Full-year production is expected to exceed 100,000 units. To support this, the 18 specific measures announced on the same day provide multifaceted support for accelerating the commercial development of science and technology.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China said that embodied-intelligence products were moving out of laboratories and into the field, identifying rapid development in scale, innovation and industrial applications as a three-stage acceleration. In demonstrations, more than 300 priority testing and deployment scenarios have been identified, while work to resolve technical challenges is advancing in areas including motion control and tactile sensors.
The government said it would promote technological development in priority fields through measures such as designating exemplary applications as key priorities, deepen practical training in real-world environments, and publish guidelines for developing a standards system. Strengthening industrial standards and data security, using open-source communities, and introducing ethical governance were also cited as initiatives.
Investment and talent development in artificial intelligence are also being promoted. Reported initiatives include establishing a national investment fund, publishing 285 exemplary application cases, and matching supply and demand among more than 1,000 companies. The smart transformation of commerce and distribution is also advancing, with digital-investment support for areas such as smart warehouses and unmanned delivery under consideration.
