The TSE Growth Index posted a sharp consecutive gain. Buying in AI-related and semiconductor stocks led the advance, with both the Growth Market's main index and its 250 Index rising substantially.
The TSE Growth Index rose sharply in today's Tokyo market, with the Growth Market Index at 995.41 points and the Growth Market 250 Index at 784.22 points, both substantially higher than the previous day. Trading volume was generally firm, and advancing issues outnumbered declining issues. Against the backdrop of a rebound in U.S. equities, buying in AI-related and semiconductor stocks prevailed, supporting the broader market.
Although uncertainty over the situation in the Middle East, movements in crude oil prices and changes in U.S. long-term interest rates were recognized as market-wide risk factors, buying intensified in individual AI- and semiconductor-related stocks. Among the leading gainers were PowerX, which announced the start of shipments of PowerX's ultra-compact energy storage system, Mega Power 2500, as well as Circlace, Social Wire and Schoo, which had continued to hit limit-up levels through the previous day.
Among the largest stocks by market capitalization, Trial Holdings and MTG rose, while Hybrid Technologies and S&J also posted notable gains. In contrast, selling led declines in Broad Enterprise, Kringle Pharma and TabiKobo as investors took profits following their breakouts above previous highs. The rally in AI and semiconductor stocks provided confidence in the emerging market, which entered a recovery phase.
U.S. market developments supported the Tokyo market. The Dow rebounded, the Nasdaq Composite rose and the SOX Index remained firm. This strengthened buying interest in the TSE Growth Market, and AI and semiconductor stocks continued to attract attention as the day's leading themes.
The list of top gainers and decliners included Circlace, Schoo, Hybrid Technologies, S&J and Social Wire among the gainers, and Retty, DigitalPlus, TabiKobo and Kringle Pharma among the decliners.
