Kikkoman will open a new plant in Jefferson, Wisconsin, its third production site in the United States, strengthening its soy sauce production capacity in North America. Japanese and U.S. officials and other stakeholders attended the ceremony.
On 18 September, Kikkoman opened a new plant in Jefferson, Wisconsin, and held a grand opening ceremony. Attendees included Yoshino Akiki (茂木 友三郎), Chairman Emeritus and Director, as well as other Japanese and U.S. officials and stakeholders.
The new plant occupies a site of approximately 100 acres and has a facility of approximately 240,000 square feet. Construction began in April 2024, brewing is scheduled to begin in May 2026, and product shipments are scheduled to start in October.
The plant is Kikkoman's third production site in the United States, following the Walworth plant in the same state, and its ninth overseas soy sauce production site. Against a total investment of approximately $800 million, WEDC is expected to provide up to $15.5 million in tax incentives, with more than 80 new jobs expected to be created at the two sites.
Kikkoman plans to invest approximately $560 million over the next 10 years to produce soy sauce and related seasonings. In response to growing demand in the North American market, the company indicated that it expects to further strengthen its supply capacity in the region.
