Heiwado will open Al-Plaza Foods Market Toyama Kakeo in Toyama City at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, 18 September 2026. This will be the first Al-Plaza Foods Market in Toyama Prefecture and Heiwado's first new store in the prefecture in 26 years, since Al-Plaza Toyama. Following the opening, Heiwado will have 3 stores in Toyama Prefecture and 171 stores across the company.
The store will have approximately 600 tsubo of sales space adjacent to the Toyama City Public Wholesale Market. Its broad range will focus on fresh seafood and produce purchased directly from the market, as well as prepared foods, bread, prepared-food deli items and other deli offerings. The store also plans to expand its selection of partially prepared foods and frozen products for dual-income and child-rearing households, together with freshly prepared dishes available in the evening.
The store will be organised into produce, fresh seafood, meat, deli and grocery sections. Its features will include fresh-caught natural fish from Toyama Bay, direct purchases of seasonal fish, fruit and vegetables sourced directly from producers, meat including E-WA! brand beef, freshly baked bread and a live cooking experience at the Teppantei griddle counter. The deli section will offer Japanese prepared dishes and okonomiyaki made with local ingredients, while the grocery section will have an expanded selection of desserts and frozen products, supporting the meals of nearby single-person and dual-income households.
