The morning session comments covered developments at J. Front Retailing, Rengo, 大和, Kanaden, Panasonic Holdings and Iwaki Pump, including J. Front Retailing's downward revision, Rengo's price revisions, 大和's new medium-term plan and projected loss, and Kanaden's upward revision for the first half.
J. Front Retailing lowered its full-year consolidated operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027 from ¥47.0 billion to ¥46.0 billion, while raising its consolidated business profit forecast to ¥53.5 billion. Although sales to department-store clients and duty-free sales were strong, the revision reflects costs associated with the closure of the Daimaru Shimonoseki store. Consolidated operating profit for the first half was ¥26.81 billion, down 10.5% year on year.
Rengo announced that it will revise prices for paperboard and converted paper products delivered on or after 1 January 2027. The increase will be 10% or more from current prices. The company said it will present terms on an individual basis, taking into account transaction conditions and the status of previous price revisions.
大和 formulated a new medium-term management plan, targeting total sales of ¥45.0 billion and operating profit of ¥1.0 billion in FY2031. For FY2026, it expects total sales of ¥39.0 billion and operating profit of ¥250 million, and plans growth investment in store renovations and the rebuilding of its merchandising structure. Meanwhile, it lowered its full-year net result forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027 from a ¥100 million profit to a ¥900 million loss.
Kanaden raised its consolidated operating profit forecast for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 from ¥1.70 billion to ¥1.95 billion. The revision reflects firm demand for AI and data centers, which drove growth in factory automation systems, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, power distribution panels and power supply equipment for data centers.
