During the morning session, Sakata Seed Corporation, Felissimo Corporation, Sekisui Jushi Corporation, Fukuyama Transporting, Skylark Holdings and BOOKOFF GROUP HOLDINGS released earnings information and updates on business trends. Key items included Q1 and first-half performance trends, as well as developments in external transactions and partnerships.
Sakata Seed Corporation announced consolidated operating profit of ¥3.39 billion for Q1 of the fiscal year ending May 2027, down 24.1% year on year. Revenue rose 7.2% year on year, due to the translation effect of the weaker yen, but lower gross profit margins and higher selling, general and administrative expenses pushed down profit. The company left its full-year consolidated operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending May 2027 unchanged at ¥13.50 billion, up 2.9% from the previous fiscal year.
Felissimo Corporation reported consolidated operating profit of ¥120 million for the first half of the fiscal year ending February 2027, down 39.4% year on year. New customer acquisition in its subscription delivery business exceeded the previous year, but the total number of customers declined as existing customers purchased less frequently. Although its new business areas grew, higher advertising and personnel costs in the subscription delivery business weighed on profit. The company left its full-year forecast unchanged at ¥240 million, up 10.4% from the previous fiscal year.
Sekisui Jushi Corporation rose for a third straight day after acquiring control of South Korea's Hi-Q. The consideration was KRW 58 billion, approximately ¥6.76 billion. The acquisition secures development, manufacturing and sales bases in South Korea and a manufacturing base in Vietnam, with the company aiming to optimise its production structure in Asia and strengthen supply capacity. The share transfer is scheduled to be completed on 6 October 2026.
Fukuyama Transporting rose for a fourth straight day. The company expects to sell part of its listed securities holdings and record approximately ¥8.0 billion in gains on the sale of investment securities as extraordinary income. The sale period is scheduled to run from 7 October through the end of March 2027. In line with its medium-term management plan, which prioritises capital efficiency, the company plans to reduce its policy-held shares. The gain on sale has already been incorporated into the consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027.
Skylark Holdings traded within a narrow range. September same-store sales rose 2.9% year on year, customer numbers fell 0.7% and average spend per customer rose 3.7%. According to the company, autumn menu items and coupon promotions supported customer traffic, while Gusto's Tsukimi Cheese IN Hamburg Steak and Shine Muscat desserts, along with Bamiyan's 40th anniversary campaign, performed well. BOOKOFF GROUP HOLDINGS announced that September domestic sales at directly operated existing BOOKOFF stores rose 4.2% year on year, while sales across all stores rose 5.9%.
