Workman has added 3 new lines to its Wonder workwear series, including a ¥1,990 windproof jacket. The company has announced a sales plan for a total of 3.1 million garments over the one-year period from September 2026 to August 2027.
Workman’s Wonder series is expected to sell a total of 3.1 million garments during the one-year period from September 2026 to August 2027. The annual sales plan includes 2.1 million year-round workwear items, 350,000 winter workwear items and 650,000 summer items. With this announcement, the company is bringing releases 3 through 5 of the Wonder series together and adding 3 new lines to the range.
The Wonder series is the flagship of Workman’s “workforce-strengthening” plan, which has been promoted since April 2024. It has gained support for combining design appeal and high functionality with low prices. Some stores have also begun adopting the workwear as uniforms, and customers have praised its comfort, stretchability and design.
The company attributes the low prices to the introduction of a production system based on processing trade. It provides fabric and auxiliary materials free of charge to sewing factories in Southeast Asia and pays only the processing fees. By shifting the risk of delays in procuring materials to the factories and assuming mass production of around 300,000 garments a year, manufacturing costs are expected to be 20–30% lower than those of existing products.
Through the combination of the new lines and the low-cost production system, the Wonder series is expected to target sales volumes exceeding the number of construction skilled workers. Comparing the sales volume with the number of construction skilled workers reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the company believes that sales of the series will exceed the number of people engaged in on-site work.
