Google will launch the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5 on 20 August. Gemini Intelligence reads the context and suggests the next action with a single tap, delivering a new user experience. The design is intended to reduce the need to switch between multiple apps.
Google will launch the new Pixel 11 series of smartphones and the Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch. The products feature a new experience called Gemini Intelligence, built around the generative AI system Gemini, with Pixel emphasizing its design philosophy of integrating AI ahead of competing devices.
A new Pixel feature is the information cards displayed in Android’s Messages app. When users tap a card in response to a friend’s suggestion, they can check restaurant reviews and related information without leaving the messaging screen. When the context includes a date and time, Gemini can also present a card for checking a calendar event, reducing the need to switch between multiple apps. Gemini is designed not only to answer questions but also to anticipate what the user will do next and act proactively.
Google plans to expand Gemini beyond Pixel to devices from other manufacturers, including Samsung Galaxy, and expects it to roll out to devices that meet certain requirements, such as smartwatches, in-vehicle systems and laptops. Google has indicated that it intends to promote adoption of the new experience by leveraging the strength of designing its AI models, Android and hardware as an integrated whole.
