Furukawa Electric revised its previous earnings forecast for the six months ended 30 September 2026, while leaving its revenue and operating profit forecasts unchanged. The forecast for profit attributable to owners of the parent was raised to ¥58,000 million from the previous forecast, while the impact of factors affecting the equity ratio was described as limited. Accordingly, the forecast for interim earnings per share was also revised upward, from ¥60.41 to ¥82.45.
The company has indicated a policy of prioritising earnings, product mix and efficiency. Growth in earnings is expected to be driven not only by revenue growth but also by cost management and optimisation of the business portfolio. Recent performance data showed ROE of 20.5%, which has been interpreted as indicating that earnings growth is likely to accelerate in the short term. Some market participants also believe that the feasibility of the efficiency-led outlook will depend on execution going forward.
The market is focused on how this forecast revision may change Furukawa Electric's investment story.
