Earnings announcements came in succession after trading ended on 24 September. COVER sharply raised its first-half ordinary profit forecast, now expecting a 27.2% increase. Furukawa Electric also significantly raised its first-half net profit forecast, while Oracle Corporation Japan and GMO Commerce lifted their forecasts for the current fiscal year.
COVER, which operates a VTuber business, raised its ordinary profit forecast for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 from ¥1.93 billion to ¥3.4 billion. The company now expects profit to increase year on year and is projected to set a new record for first-half profit for the first time in two fiscal years. The main factors behind the increase were the stronger-than-expected launch of the new smartphone game “hololive Dreams,” revenue from licensing and tie-up businesses exceeding the plan, and the offsetting impact of inventory adjustments in the merchandising business.
Furukawa Electric raised its consolidated net profit forecast for the first half from ¥42.5 billion to ¥58 billion, a 36.5% upward revision. The revision reflected the earlier recognition of gains on the sale of UACJ shares, while its full-year net profit forecast was left unchanged.
Oracle Corporation Japan posted first-quarter ordinary profit of ¥26.6 billion, up 25% year on year, setting a new quarterly record amid growing cloud demand. The broader adoption of its products and services across a wide range of industries reportedly supported the increase in profit.
GMO Commerce raised its ordinary profit forecast for the current fiscal year from ¥650 million to ¥730 million, a 12.1% upward revision, and indicated that it would also increase its year-end dividend to ¥52.12 per share. The increase reflects the impact of amortisation of goodwill and the consolidation of a new subsidiary.
