CMP links transactions across the entire supply chain with information on chemical substances contained in products and transmits the information to designated parties. NEDO, the CMP Consortium and NTT DATA will launch the service on 1 October 2026.
The background to the initiative is the view that appropriately managing and distributing information on substances contained in products across the entire supply chain is essential to achieving a circular economy based on resource recycling, while the burden of responding to tighter regulations must also be reduced. NTT DATA has been developing an infrastructure for distributing chemical-substance information and managing traceability as part of its Ouranos Ecosystem business.
The CMP Consortium and NTT DATA will launch the service on 1 October 2026. By linking trading relationships and product chemical-substance information from raw materials through to finished products, the service will enable information to be transmitted to designated business partners. It will facilitate information sharing while protecting trade secrets, supporting faster responses to chemical-substance regulations and reducing the administrative burden of repeated investigations.
The plan is to expand applications for chemical, electrical and automotive-related businesses, with the aim of attracting several thousand participating companies by 2028. The scope of linked information will also be expanded to include parts-reuse information and recycled-material information, broadening the distribution of resource-circulation data and ultimately developing the platform into an international global information-sharing infrastructure.
