On 13 October, a food education open class was held at Arakawa Ward Ogu No. 6 Elementary School, followed by the first performance of “Omame Samba,” which incorporates the sound logo “♪Fujicco no Omame-san.” In the first session, Fukui Shoichi (福井正一) served as instructor, using teaching materials to explain Japanese food culture and the nutritional value of beans. The event was held on Bean Day and commemorated the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Omame-san brand.
Fujicco’s original supplementary teaching material, the “Delicious Japan: Itadakimasu” guidebook, used in the first session, has been adopted by more than approximately 150 elementary schools across Japan.
In the second session, choreographer akane was invited as a guest, and Avantgardey, a mysterious group of bob-haired figures in school uniforms, made a surprise appearance. They gave the first performance of “Omame Samba” together with approximately 70 children, providing a food education experience through dance.
The choreography incorporates moves such as the “Omame pose” and the “Mount Fuji pose.” The dedicated website also provides choreography videos and lyrics. A bean-grabbing game was held to teach the correct way to hold chopsticks and Japanese dining etiquette.
