Toyota has announced updates to part of the Land Cruiser “300” series lineup, including Japan’s first hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) Land Cruiser. The HEV will be available in the ZX and GR SPORT, while equipment will also be substantially expanded.
Toyota Motor has updated the Land Cruiser “300” series lineup and added its first hybrid model for the Japanese market. The HEV will be available in the upper-tier ZX and GR SPORT grades, which will also feature exclusive design elements such as jet-black chrome-finished aero parts.
The powertrain newly adopts a parallel hybrid system combining a motor with a large-displacement twin-turbo engine. It is designed to deliver both acceleration on paved roads and controllability off-road, while electric power steering improves handling.
The GX grade, available with a diesel engine, has been refreshed and now comes standard with an electric differential lock to improve off-road practicality. Exterior features include aluminum wheels and a black radiator grille, while the interior adopts resin flooring and a practical seat layout.
Safety and convenience equipment has been expanded across the lineup, with wireless charging, ITS Connect, a cold-weather package and an ETC 2.0 unit added to all models. The ZX and GR SPORT will also come standard with a JBL sound system, rear-seat entertainment and a Multi-Terrain Monitor.
The revised vehicle prices are ¥9,801,000 for the HEV ZX, ¥10,200,300 for the HEV GR SPORT, ¥6,300,800 for the GX, ¥8,700,500 for the ZX and ¥9,150,900 for the GR SPORT.
