Apple announced the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and HomePod mini 2. Sales in Japan have not yet been decided, but pre-orders are open and prices are ¥49,800 for Apple TV 4K and ¥24,800 for HomePod mini 2.
On 13 October, Apple announced a range of new home-related products, including the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and HomePod mini 2 for Japan. Although the launch date and sales format in Japan have not yet been decided, pre-orders for both products are being accepted from the same day. Apple TV 4K is priced at ¥49,800 and HomePod mini 2 at ¥24,800, with both prices including tax.
The new Apple TV 4K uses the A19 chip, the same chip announced for the iPhone 17 in 2025, delivering up to 50% higher CPU performance and up to 2 times higher GPU performance than the previous generation. It includes an AV1 decoder, enabling high-quality playback of supported streaming content while keeping data usage relatively low. For privacy, voice data is processed in an isolated area called Secure Exclave, designed to make access by tvOS, apps, users and Apple itself more difficult. Thread support is also built in to maintain its home hub functionality. The Siri Remote (4th generation) retains the new design and can play a sound to help locate it. The release suggests that some UWB functions may be restricted at the time of the Japan launch.
HomePod mini 2 is a smart speaker with Siri, available in 5 colors: pink, green, blue, white and midnight. It uses the Apple S10 chip and computational audio to optimize sound through software processing. It also adds a Sound Glow feature, in which the top light illuminates in sync with the music being played and can display lighting effects linked to the album artwork.
The release does not mention the rollout of Apple HomeView or Apple Home Collection in Japan.
