Kanagawa Prefecture has launched “Kanagawa Chokotto Employment,” an initiative to promote employment of people with disabilities for less than 10 hours a week. It has launched a platform using Mirairo ID and will offer work-experience placements and adviser dispatch services.
Kanagawa Prefecture has established an initiative to promote employment of less than 10 hours a week as a new option for people who have difficulty working long hours for physical or mental reasons. By supporting diverse ways of working for people with disabilities, the prefecture has indicated its intention to propose to the national government a review of the current employment-system framework.
In February 2026, the prefecture signed a partnership agreement on the employment of people with disabilities with Mirairo Inc. It then launched, within the digital disability certificate “Mirairo ID” operated by the company, a platform connecting people with disabilities seeking short-hours employment with companies seeking to hire them.
The platform is expected to have more than 600,000 Mirairo ID users and will list job openings and internship opportunities from companies that have obtained the Universal Manners Certification. Information on work-experience placements will also be provided.
The work-experience placement listings state that placements at the following companies have concluded. The placements were held on 23 or 28 October 2026 at the Zenko Yokohama Branch in Yokohama City.
Under the adviser dispatch service, experts are sent to companies promoting short-hours employment, with consulting and support for posting job openings provided free of charge.
The introductory seminar was held online and covered trends in the employment of people with disabilities, how to implement short-hours employment and key points in recruitment activities.
