Nissan announced that it will launch the new Kicks e-POWER in the European market. Production will take place at its Sunderland plant in the UK, which is marking its 40th year of operations, with the investment totaling £170 million (approximately ¥35.5 billion).
The Kicks e-POWER is a compact crossover equipped with Nissan’s proprietary e-POWER technology, and this will be its first launch in the European market. It will be produced at the plant alongside the Qashqai, Juke and Leaf.
The second-generation Kicks is currently produced in Japan, Mexico and Brazil, and more than 1.8 million units have been sold worldwide. In Europe, it will join the lineup of models equipped with electric powertrains as a new e-POWER model.
The Kicks e-POWER will be equipped with the third-generation e-POWER introduced in 2025. The comprehensively redesigned powertrain is designed to improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and enhance quietness.
The Sunderland plant began production of the first-generation Bluebird in 1986 and marked its 40th year of operations in 2026. Cumulative production to date is approximately 12 million units, making the Kicks e-POWER the 10th model to be produced at the plant.
