The Nikkei Stock Average rebounded sharply in Tokyo trading on the morning of the 28th, ending the morning session ¥550.90 higher than the previous day at ¥66,682.88. Although selling led the market at times before the open, the Nikkei turned higher as its 25-day moving average was seen as support.
The TOPIX ended the morning session up 35.16 points at 4,152.38, with buying in AI and semiconductor-related stocks pushing the Nikkei higher. In the U.S. market, the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.57% and the SOX Index gained 2.33%.
Going forward, trends in U.S. monetary policy, exchange rates and long-term U.S. Treasury yields will continue to draw attention as factors driving share-price volatility, while the significant impact of price movements in semiconductor-related stocks was again underscored.
