TSE Growth Market 250 Index futures continued to decline following falls in US stocks and the BOJ’s policy of accelerating ETF sales. The contract traded at 772pt, approximately 2pt below the previous day’s close.
On 30 October, TSE Growth Market 250 Index futures opened at 772pt, down 9pt from the previous day. Although the contract rose temporarily during the day, it lost momentum once buying ran its course and weakened again in the afternoon, remaining soft throughout the session.
US market developments were cited as a factor, with Dow futures sold and concern about falling US stocks spreading. In addition, the BOJ was reported to be planning to accelerate its annual ETF sales from approximately ¥330 billion to approximately ¥860 billion, worsening investor sentiment.
Among major stocks, MTG and ジーエヌアイ fell, and leading TSE Growth Market stocks also remained soft. Futures started from 779pt, down 2pt from the previous day, and after falling in the afternoon, ultimately ended trading at 772pt.
The acceleration of falls in US stocks and the BOJ’s sales plan is believed to have supported the overall weakness in Growth Market futures.
