Toyama Prefecture and Kansai Electric Power signed a comprehensive partnership agreement in May. The agreement aims to secure a stable supply of renewable energy and establish a system for supplying hydroelectric power from the Kurobe River No. 4 Power Station within the prefecture. This is intended to promote data center attraction and decentralize activity within the prefecture.
Governor Nitta Hachiro (新田 八朗) said that the ability to provide a stable renewable energy supply would be an important factor in attracting companies, emphasizing the effectiveness of the agreement. Nanto City also expects the use of its abundant water resources to serve as a cornerstone of collaboration, as part of its pioneering initiatives.
The prefecture has outlined a policy aimed at achieving both regional revitalization through data center attraction and energy conservation. The partnership between Toyama Prefecture and Kansai Electric Power aims to strengthen the renewable energy supply system by using the prefecture’s hydroelectric resources. Attention is now focused on the specific details and progress of future collaboration.
