Gyo-nuts has been newly launched as an upcycled menu item made using leftover gyoza wrappers from 大阪王将. Produced and sold through the group’s R Baker, it was announced that sales would begin at 9 locations.
A new product, Gyo-nuts, has been created by combining leftover gyoza wrappers from 大阪王将 with doughnuts made by the group’s R Baker. It is an upcycled menu item developed through an internal project aimed at reducing waste from gyoza wrappers.
Gyo-nuts dough is made by combining leftover gyoza-wrapper dough from the company’s own factory with leftover bread dough from R Baker, then freezing it for delivery to each location. It is fried and topped in-store before being served, contributing to a reduction in food waste across the group.
The product consists of bite-sized doughnuts with a crisp, crunchy exterior and a chewy interior. It is available in 5 flavors: sugar, strawberry milk, chocolate, gyoza and mapo tofu. It is planned as a takeout snack that can be eaten at any time of day.
Sales initially began at 9 limited 大阪王将 locations, including the Dotonbori flagship location in the Kanto region. The rollout covers 7 locations in Kanto and 2 in Kansai, and expansion to additional locations is under consideration.
