Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha has raised its consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027. In addition to steady performance in the dry bulk business, the cargo demand and market conditions in the container shipping business operated by ONE, an equity-method affiliate, exceeded the previous forecast, which is said to have been the reason for the revision.
Full-year revenue was raised 9.3% from the previous forecast of ¥1.07 trillion to ¥1.17 trillion. Operating profit was revised from ¥85 billion to ¥91 billion, ordinary profit from ¥135 billion to ¥190 billion, and net profit from ¥135 billion to ¥190 billion. Both ordinary profit and net profit are 40.7% above the previous forecast.
The cumulative first-half forecast was also raised, with revenue revised from ¥574.5 billion to ¥602 billion, operating profit from ¥42 billion to ¥51 billion, ordinary profit from ¥80 billion to ¥118 billion, and net profit from ¥86 billion to ¥124.5 billion. The revisions are attributed to ONE’s contribution and the recovery in demand for the container business.
The company said strong performance in the dry bulk business would boost revenue and operating profit, while conditions in ONE’s container shipping business had led to the upward revisions to ordinary profit and net profit.
