Canal City Fukuoka Washington Hotel in Canal City Hakata underwent a full renovation on 1 September 2026. Art and Hakata-inspired design have been incorporated throughout the hotel, while the rooms have been transformed into new spaces featuring nature themes.
Located within Canal City Hakata, the hotel has completely renewed its interior design through the renovation, expressing a “Theater of the City” concept with artworks at the entrance, in the lobby and throughout the hotel.
Centered around the lobby, art by 海岸和輝 (Kaigan Kazuki) and designs inspired by the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival are placed throughout the property. Wood-based materials create spaces that convey Hakata's liveliness and warmth.
All 422 rooms have been renovated, with each room incorporating one of 5 nature themes: water, valleys, greenery, sun and stars. The previous large desks have been replaced with spaces featuring sofas and small tables. The newly introduced Superior Bunk Four Rooms feature 2 bunk beds and accommodate up to 4 guests, making them suitable for families and groups of friends.
Breakfast is served buffet-style at the first-floor restaurant Bonjour Plus, with Kyushu and Hakata specialties including mentaiko, Hakata udon, motsunabe and Kirishima black pork shabu-shabu. The buffet also features a live kitchen and a combination of Japanese and Western dishes.
