Amazon in the US announced 2 new AI devices under the Be brand. The devices can listen to and record information, and the company explained the terms for providing privacy controls and analytical functions.
Amazon in the US announced 2 new devices under the Be brand on the 15th local time. Frontier has a bracelet-like design, while Eclipse is said to resemble a magnetic portable charger. Both devices can listen to and record information throughout the day, and are described as providing analytical results such as reconstructions of conversations, reminders of tasks and reminders of appointments.
Users decide when to turn the devices on and can delete analytical results and past conversations as needed. The company said it would not store audio data. Data is retained for up to 14 days, and the retention period can be extended by paying a $12 monthly subscription. The devices are also scheduled to support connection to Alexa Plus.
The announcement was made at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, where the head of the device business described the products as “listening to” an ordinary day. The company emphasised that users themselves can control the scope of disclosure and how their data is handled as key elements of privacy management.
