Elecom announced the new thumb-operated IST PLUS trackball. Positioned not merely as an intermediate model in the IST series but as a feature-rich model aimed at a next-generation operating experience, it includes a ball-roller support mechanism, onboard memory, and Bridge E support.
Elecom announced IST PLUS on 26 May 2026. In its press release, the product was positioned as a new IST model, with the company indicating its intention to establish a new standard between IST and IST PRO.
Through product demonstrations and hands-on sessions, the company indicated that it is seeking to update the product as a whole, including its operating feel, connectivity, and maintainability.
IST PLUS is positioned not only between the existing standard IST and IST PRO, but also adopts a new design with an added ball-roller support mechanism. Other highlighted improvements include onboard memory, use of Bridge E for up to 3 wireless connections, and quieter buttons.
The ball-roller support unit was also described as modular and compatible with other series, allowing users to change the ball feel to suit their preference later. Elecom also announced a fluorine-coating agent as a maintenance kit, intended to maintain smooth movement and improve durability.
On the software side, Elecom Mouse Assistant is expected to be updated to version 6.3.0, adding Bridge E support and profile management features. The company is also considering expanding compatibility to HUGE PLUS and enhancing custom macros and presets.
