House Foods Group Inc. has launched the “Way Home to the Dinner Table Project” in Higashiosaka. In its first year, the company will distribute traffic-safety knapsacks to support children’s safe journeys home and will develop community activities in partnership with FC Osaka.
House Foods Group Inc. will launch the “Way Home to the Dinner Table Project” in October 2026, based in Higashiosaka, Osaka Prefecture, to support families in enjoying safe, secure meals together with their local communities. The project aims to create a society where children can return home safely and say “I’m home.” In addition to traffic safety, it is expected to provide various forms of community support, including neighborhood watch activities, development support through sports, and family communication.
As its first-year initiative, the company will produce “Original Traffic-Safety Knapsacks” as a first step toward supporting children’s safe journeys home and distribute them through the Higashiosaka Board of Education to approximately 500 first-grade elementary school students. The knapsacks are primarily yellow for high visibility and use retroreflective ink printing. They are designed for use not only on the way to and from school but also in sports and community activities.
The original cards attached to the knapsacks use turmeric press cake generated during House Foods Group’s manufacturing process as part of the paper material. The aim is to create opportunities for parents and children to discuss manufacturing and the effective use of resources through a familiar everyday item.
FC Osaka, a J.League club based in Higashiosaka, works to foster children’s healthy development and contribute to the community through sports. It will participate in the project by helping design the knapsacks, conducting awareness activities at home games, and disseminating local information. The company plans to expand partnerships with local governments, schools, sports clubs and others, advancing initiatives aimed at making each day one in which families can enjoy meals together with peace of mind.
