A new Apple TV 4K has been announced for the first time in 4 years, with a Japan price of ¥49,800 and sales starting on 13 November. Siri AI is expected to launch with English support first, while the timing of Japanese support remains undecided.
The new Apple TV 4K was officially announced on 13 October Japan time, with a Japan price of ¥49,800 and pre-orders opening ahead of its Friday, 13 November launch. This is approximately ¥5,000 more expensive than the previous model's top configuration.
Only one configuration is available, with 128GB and Ethernet. It features the A19 chip, Wi‑Fi 7 and standard Thread support, while the video output limit remains 4K/60fps. The inclusion of Ethernet and Thread as standard from launch is a major change.
Siri AI will be offered as an English-based beta, with support expected to be limited to English in 8 countries: the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. The timing of Japanese-language support has not been announced.
The remote includes a new feature that lets users play a sound to locate it, while surround sound using 4 HomePods is supported only on the new model. Details of regional availability in Japan are expected to be provided after launch.
