Chubu Electric Power’s new President Yasui Minoru (安井稔) indicated that the company plans to appoint the head of its nuclear power division from outside the company. It will also consider an external appointment when selecting a chairman, and plans to establish a committee by the end of the year to assess reforms to its organisational culture.
New President Yasui Minoru (安井稔), who took office following the data falsification issue at Chubu Electric Power’s Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, disclosed that the company intends to appoint the head of its nuclear power division from outside the company. He also indicated a policy of selecting a chairman, whose position is currently vacant, while considering candidates from outside the company.
He further disclosed plans to establish, by the end of the year, a committee comprising external members to assess reforms to the organisation’s culture, based on the findings of the investigative committee.
President Yasui’s policy aims to replace the company’s restart from a difficult position with “deconstructive reconstruction,” thereby setting a course for restoring the region’s trust and achieving growth.
