Chubu Electric Power is reportedly set to see its chairman and president announce their resignations over the data falsification issue at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station. The focus will be on reshaping the company's management structure.
It has been reported that incoming President Yasui Minoru (安井稔), 61, is scheduled to become president on 1 October. In responding to media inquiries, he indicated that he would work to resolve the issue while addressing the management challenges he faces.
The investigative committee's report, released on the 14th, pointed to operations in specialist departments becoming black-boxed and controls failing to function. The company is being pressed to overhaul its corporate culture, including in the thermal power division.
Attention will now focus on progress in restoring trust and reforming the organisation under the new management team led by Yasui.
