燦ホールディングス released its consolidated earnings summary for the fiscal year ended August 2026. The 17-month financial period makes comparisons difficult, while the recognition of a gain on bargain purchase related to the acquisition of こころネット also stands out.
The fiscal year ended August 2026 covered an unusual 17-month period. The きずな Group covered 18 months, while こころネット contributed 5 months to the consolidated results, making a straightforward comparison with the same period of the previous year impossible. Revenue was ¥57.7 billion, operating income was ¥4.0 billion and net income was ¥4.6 billion.
A ¥2.8 billion gain on bargain purchase was recognized. This is a non-cash, one-time extraordinary gain and is not considered an indicator of the earning power of the core business. Cash-related figures, meanwhile, moved in the opposite direction, with cash and cash equivalents declining from ¥12.6 billion to ¥9.4 billion.
The average funeral service fee and number of services handled by the 公益社 Group have been trending down, while higher fixed and personnel costs are weighing on segment profit. The きずな Group posted segment loss of ¥90 million on revenue of ¥21.1 billion. Excluding ¥1.07 billion in goodwill amortization, it was profitable, but the cash return on the acquisition investment remains uncertain, it has been pointed out.
For the next fiscal year, on a 12-month basis, the company expects revenue of ¥49.1 billion and operating income of ¥3.43 billion. The focus will be on improving average fees and utilization rates at existing facilities and the profitability of acquired businesses, in addition to expanding the number of facilities. Attention will be on whether ROIC exceeds the cost of capital.
