NIPPON SHOKUBAI announced that it would make 互応化学工業 a wholly owned subsidiary for ¥20 billion. It plans to promote joint development and the mutual use of sales networks, primarily for semiconductor materials.
NIPPON SHOKUBAI acquired 互応化学工業 on the 2nd, purchasing all of its shares and making it a wholly owned subsidiary. The acquisition price was ¥20 billion, and the companies involved are reportedly expected to begin operating as subsidiaries after completion of the acquisition.
互応化学 is a company that develops materials for semiconductors and electronic components, including resist materials, while NIPPON SHOKUBAI handles materials such as resins and fine particles. Under the new structure, the two companies are expected to combine their product development capabilities and customer bases to generate synergies in areas including semiconductor materials and film-coating materials.
NIPPON SHOKUBAI has set a target of increasing the Solutions Business's contribution to more than 50% in the fiscal year ending March 2028, and intends to use the acquisition to drive growth in that business. 互応化学 went private through an MBO in 2022, and is reportedly expected to strengthen product development and its supply chain through the integration.
