On the 27th, ULVAC announced that it would transfer its entire 65.0% stake in consolidated subsidiary ULVAC Technologies, Inc. to its joint-venture partner Inabata & Co.,Ltd. The transfer price is ¥4.9 billion, and completion is scheduled for 18 December. Following the transfer, ULVAC Technologies and its overseas subsidiaries will no longer be included in ULVAC's consolidated accounts.
ULVAC Technologies manufactures and sells mask blanks for semiconductors and flat-panel displays and processes quartz substrates. For the fiscal year ending June 2026, it reported revenue of ¥8.92 billion, operating profit of ¥1.076 billion and net income of ¥1.01 billion.
ULVAC is restructuring its business portfolio, centered on the semiconductor and electronics fields, under its Value Up Plan. While the thin-film business is expected to continue achieving a certain level of growth, ULVAC determined that continued capital investment would be necessary. By transferring management to Inabata & Co.,Ltd., it plans to combine the customer base, sales network and procurement functions of Inabata with the manufacturing and technology base of the thin-film group.
The assets being transferred include a Taiwanese company that manufactures and sells thin-film products and mask-blank-related companies in Hefei, China. The transfer is intended to redirect management resources to growth areas in the semiconductor and electronics fields.
