The survey covered 58,381 job listings posted in Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi and Fukuoka, and was conducted from April to September 2026. Pay was calculated as the average of the lower amounts stated in the job advertisements.
Average advertised monthly salaries were ¥310,532 in Tokyo, ¥299,656 in Osaka, ¥287,489 in Aichi and ¥288,300 in Fukuoka, all higher than in the previous half. Average advertised hourly wages were ¥1,352 in Tokyo, ¥1,255 in Osaka, ¥1,205 in Aichi and ¥1,152 in Fukuoka, each higher than in the previous half. Monthly salaries rose by at least ¥5,000 from the previous half in all 4 regions.
Fukuoka saw a particularly large increase of ¥13,571 from the previous half, surpassing Aichi for the first time in approximately 4 and a half years. The impact of the minimum wage revision had been largely reflected in the previous half, while the increase in hourly wages is expected to remain modest this period because it precedes the effective date of the next revision. Hourly wages are expected to rise again after the revision takes effect in the second half.
Data by business type and occupation were also released. Japanese cuisine recorded the largest increase, followed by Western cuisine, Western-style food and Italian cuisine. By occupation, cooks' monthly salaries exceeded those of service and floor staff in many cases, and the gap widened in Tokyo and Osaka.
