Shingi, the leading local food-packaging wholesaler, operates 15 sales offices and 4 distribution centers nationwide. The company supports a rich food culture and food distribution by proposing the optimal container from among 200,000 types differing in material, shape and design. Its manufacturing capabilities have become increasingly important, and it is also focusing on planning original packaging in collaboration with in-house designers.
As part of its environmentally responsible initiatives, the company jointly established the general incorporated association Circular Lab Hiroshima with Eikei University in March 2026, in cooperation with local businesses and students. The association is promoting the collection, recycling and reuse of paper cups and aims to maintain operation of a resource-circulation model.
The company has promoted the development of eco-friendly products since the latter half of the 2010s. Hiromaru Bagasse, a bagasse-molded takeaway container for okonomiyaki made from sugarcane, won the Award of Excellence at the 18th Hiroshima Good Design Awards. At Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, the company participated in a composting project using biodegradable PLA resin and supplied drink cups used at the venue.
In February 2026, the company invested in Taiwan's major player Mini-Mate Technology and entered into an agreement granting it exclusive rights to sell all compostable products in Japan. It also expanded sales of the Proton rapid freezer and Shrinktech Eco tabletop shrink-wrapping machine through its machinery business, launched in 2021. In addition, it established the Fun Food Team in 2025 and set up a structure to provide consistent support from planning through commercialization.
