FP CORPORATION, Japan's leading food-tray manufacturer, is stepping up efforts to develop proprietary materials and promote circular recycling. The company is expanding overseas, broadening applications for new materials and advancing technological innovation to address social issues through collaboration with more than 5,000 stores.
FP CORPORATION, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market and headquartered in Fukuyama, has maintained an approximately 30% share of Japan's market for disposable food containers since its founding in 1962. It handles everything from research and development to manufacturing, sales, logistics and recycling on an integrated basis. As Japan's largest player, the company has introduced new industry standards, including colored trays and microwave-safe containers.
One of the company's strengths is its strong research and development and technological capabilities. It develops proprietary materials tailored to specific applications, offering properties such as insulation, heat resistance, oil resistance and transparency. Its product range exceeds 10,000 items, and it is also focusing on research into recycling technologies to help address social issues.
The company is promoting a circular model centered on the world's first circular recycling system, "Tray to Tray," and "Store to Store," which recycles products collected at stores for use at those same stores. Its achievements include Eco Mark certification for its Eco Tray products and declarations by more than 5,000 stores to participate as eco-stores.
Overseas, the company jointly invested with Mitsui & Co. in 2022 to enter Malaysia's food-container market. In Japan, it plans to make the New OPP Sheet its core new material. It is expected to invest approximately ¥58 billion to build a new plant in Bando, Ibaraki Prefecture, in 2028, with a long-term target of increasing group-wide revenue to more than ¥300 billion.
