Nikkei 225 futures were sharply lower from the previous day at midday but narrowed their losses late in the session. Prices showed resilience near the +2σ Bollinger Band, prompting expectations of long positions waiting for a pullback.
Nikkei 225 futures were trading around ¥68,530 as of 11:30 a.m., approximately ¥480 below the previous day. They opened at ¥68,330, below the settlement price, with selling prevailing from the outset. After the initial wave of selling, losses narrowed, although movements encouraging short-term short positions were also observed.
The decline extended to ¥68,310 around mid-session, but the downward bias did not strengthen as the move remained within the expected range of correction. Prices recovered to around ¥68,600 toward the end of the session.
The NT ratio rose to approximately 16.70 times for the most active futures contract. Meanwhile, resilience in semiconductor and AI-related stocks supported the market, with Nikkei-style trading prevailing. Views spread that resilience near the +2σ Bollinger Band would encourage long positions waiting for a pullback.
