Following continued weakness in the US market on the 29th, the Nikkei Average opened at 66,128.59 yen, up 647.32 yen, with buying focused first on stocks including Taiyo Yuden and SoftBank Group.
The Nikkei Average opened at 66,128.59 yen, up 647.32 yen, marking its first rebound in 3 days. US stocks fell the previous day, while lower crude oil prices and movements in long-term interest rates weighed on the market. Buying nevertheless took the lead at the open.
The market moved with support from artificial intelligence-related and semiconductor-related stocks, while attention focused on the SOX Index and movements in long-term US interest rates. Although uncertainty over the situation in the Middle East remained, some viewed the decline in crude oil futures as providing reassurance.
Among the top stocks by trading value on the TSE Prime Market were Taiyo Yuden, SUMCO, SoftBank Group, TDK and Resonac, which posted notable gains. Pan Pacific International Holdings, Nissan Motor, Sony Group and NTT, meanwhile, declined.
