Malaysia's JLand Group and Kasumigaseki Capital's local subsidiary announced a partnership in temperature-controlled logistics. The parties will explore developing joint businesses using refrigerated and cold-storage facilities and automated warehouses.
Malaysia's Johor state government-affiliated real estate and infrastructure developer JLand Group announced on the 1st that it had partnered with Kasumigaseki Capital's local subsidiary. The parties will explore business opportunities in advanced cold-chain and automated logistics infrastructure.
On the same day, JLand Group signed a memorandum of understanding with Kasumigaseki Capital Malaysia through its wholly owned subsidiary, JLG Capital. The parties will explore the potential for a joint venture focused on investing in, developing, owning and operating cold-storage and refrigerated facilities, automated cold-storage warehouses and other facilities.
The parties aim to develop a business by combining JLG Capital's local real estate development capabilities with Kasumigaseki Capital Malaysia's expertise in cold chains and automated warehouse facilities. They will also consider the potential use of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and other initiatives.
JLand Group said that as needs in the industrial and logistics sectors shift toward technology-driven solutions, the infrastructure supporting them must also evolve. In the cold-chain sector, it said, a transition is needed from conventional storage facilities to facilities offering greater capacity, efficiency and operating performance.
