On the 26th, IKUYO announced that it would launch a tender offer for MURAKI. The tender offer price is ¥3,000 per share, and the planned number of shares to be acquired is up to 486,300.
Through the tender offer, IKUYO aims to increase its ownership stake in MURAKI from the current 17.01% to a maximum of 50.13% and acquire control by making MURAKI a consolidated subsidiary. The total tender offer consideration is expected to be approximately ¥1.459 billion.
MURAKI has not agreed to the tender offer at this time. MURAKI's principal business is the sale of car-care products, with most of its sales dependent on sales to automotive service stations. IKUYO aims to expand its next-generation mobility business, including EVs, by incorporating MURAKI's sales network. Consolidated revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2026 is estimated at ¥7.8 billion.
IKUYO proposed a capital alliance in June, but MURAKI had been considering countermeasures against moves to coordinate with an investment fund to acquire shares. Depending on the preparation of the prerequisites, the tender offer may be scheduled to begin around late April 2027.
Regarding developments related to EVs, IKUYO announced in August that it would acquire the EV bus business of EV Motors Japan, and announced a strategic partnership with China's Kaiwo New Energy Automobile Group in October. These initiatives are linked to efforts involving the use of storage batteries in commercial EVs and autonomous driving technology.
