The Japan Toy Association announced the winning products of the 2026 Japan Toy Awards as part of TOKYO Toy Show 2026. A total of 9 Grand Prize winners were selected by category, along with one Hit & Sales Award winner and one Special Award winner.
The press conference for TOKYO Toy Show 2026 and the Japan Toy Awards 2026 ceremony were held on 19 August at Tokyo International Forum. From 356 products submitted by 44 companies, one Grand Prize product was selected in each category, along with 4 Excellence Award products, with Grand Prizes determined across 9 categories. The winning products are scheduled to be exhibited at a dedicated booth at TOKYO Toy Show.
The Grand Prize in the Educational category went to Reading and Writing Lesson! Magical Board Encyclopedia: Disney Characters Magical Playtime. It is scheduled for release in April 2026 at a tax-inclusive price of ¥13,970. The product was recognized for its new development technology and the developers’ vision.
The Grand Prize in the Games & Puzzles category went to Investment Ranking, scheduled for release in September 2026 at a tax-inclusive price of ¥4,378. It was recognized for incorporating the theme of investment into play through a simple sugoroku-style format.
The Grand Prize in the Basic category went to Sylvanian Families Doki Doki Adventure Mountain, scheduled for release in August 2026 at a tax-inclusive price of ¥13,500. The product was recognized for the variety of its gimmicks and movements.
Tamagotchi Paradise – Pink Land/Blue Water/Purple Sky was selected for the Hit & Sales Award. It was released in July 2025 at a tax-inclusive price of ¥6,380. Strong sales in Japan and overseas were reported as the series marked its 30th anniversary.
