Taipei City Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry published a white paper pointing out the cumbersome and unpredictable nature of Taiwan's licensing and approval procedures. It proposed improvements to the investment environment to Yeh Chun-hsien (葉俊顕), Chairperson of the National Development Council.
On the 7th, Taipei City Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry published a white paper calling for improvements to Taiwan's investment environment, based on the results of a survey of all member companies, and submitted it to Yeh Chun-hsien (葉俊顕), Chairperson of the National Development Council. This is the 18th white paper issued by the chamber, which identifies improvements to administrative practices as a key issue.
The white paper states that Japanese companies face unpredictable administrative practices, including excessive burdens arising from inadequate coordination in public works projects and delays in licensing and approvals in the renewable energy sector. It also points to differences from international standards in regulations covering food, pharmaceuticals and financial services, as well as constraints such as labor shortages and concerns over electricity supply, and calls for them to be resolved.
Yeh Chun-hsien (葉俊顕) received the white paper and said that economic and trade relations between Taiwan and Japan have developed closely over the long term. He expressed his intention to continue efforts toward concluding a mutual trade agreement.
