On the night of 29 August, multiple Sony-related new products and teaser announcements were released simultaneously. Reports covered various product developments, including the announcement of the Xperia 10 VIII, the launch of the IER-M500, and the arrival of a PS5 accessory.
Sony announced the mid-range smartphone “Xperia 10 VIII” and disclosed specification changes including +6GB of virtual RAM, a Translucent Layer design, and increased display brightness. The phone is scheduled to launch from mid-September onward, while only European pricing has been reported and the price for Japan remains undecided. Sales of the Xperia 10 VII have been trending downward. Changes in the Xperia popularity rankings were also reported in connection with this development. Domestic pricing and hands-on reviews are expected to attract attention in subsequent reports.
Sony subsequently launched the in-ear monitor “IER-M500,” its first such product in 7 years. It is available in 3 colors, black, clear, and red & blue, all with a skeleton-style finish. Sony also released a teaser for the “ULT POWER SOUND series” in North America and Japan, hinting at an announcement schedule in Japan Standard Time. The rollout of new products in the earphone market is likely to be a focus going forward.
