Advantest raised its full-year earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2023, increasing its outlook for revenue and net income. It will also conduct a share buyback as AI-related demand expands and tester demand remains strong.
After the close of trading on the 28th, Advantest raised its full-year revenue forecast from ¥1.714 trillion to ¥1.863 trillion and its net income forecast from ¥660 billion to ¥741.5 billion, based on its cumulative second-quarter results for April–September. This is the second time this fiscal year that the company has forecast higher revenue and earnings.
At the same time, the company announced a share buyback. The buyback will cover up to 11 million shares and ¥280 billion in total, and is scheduled to run from 29 October through 24 March next year.
AI-related demand is expanding, particularly in the tester business, and customer capital investment has become more active. Revenue from SoC test systems is expected to exceed the company’s assumptions, while memory test systems are also expected to continue expanding steadily.
Revenue for the September interim period was ¥845.2 billion, up 60.5% year on year, and net income was ¥368.083 billion, or 2.2 times the previous year’s level. The year-end dividend is undecided, while the previously undecided interim dividend was set at ¥49.
The assumed exchange rates were revised to ¥155 per US dollar and ¥177 per euro. As of July, the assumptions were ¥152 per dollar and ¥174 per euro.
